About

{pronouns: she/her/they/them}

Born and raised in small-town Maine, I have only ever known isolation. Whether this be isolation from understanding culture, justice, truth, or a sense of belonging, the only three places that I was ever able to find solace were with art, music, and the outside. With the privilege of having these spaces, I make work that holds moments for listening, reflecting, and resonating with the self, others, and the all encompassing elements of life.

Repeatedly, sometimes violently, rendered silent, I have grown with silence to listen. Over time, I have learned that being silenced is not an isolated event, but is part of historical and ongoing cycles of exploitation and degradation. What holds me in the now is the persistence to make more of my life than giving up to these forces. I rise, shake it off, and salvage the residue to create moments for rumination, reconciliation, and resistance.

As an active artist, my tools are that which keep me grounded in the investigation of these cycles. With my breath, my body, my voice, and my mind I take time to step down, look back, and listen. Embodying notions around the anxiety of living and dying, I manifest with materials that bring me to places of silence, of sound, of land, and of the body.

Making for me means making spaces for listening, being, and feeling with ourselves, with each other, and with our surroundings. May we take more time to focus on the soft and the slow.
